Who are the Carmelite Monks of Wyoming?
The Carmelite Monks of Wyoming are a cloistered, contemplative monastery of men, in full communion with the Catholic Church, residing in the Diocese of Cheyenne. From their stone monastery constructed in the gothic style of architecture, the monks pray for the Church and the world, interceding before God for the salvation of souls. The contemplative charism of the monks has at its heart filial union with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Carmel, who the monks love with a most ardent veneration. Retaining the ancient practice of the Midnight Office as part of their Horarium, the Monks’ daily life is a balanced life of prayer and humble manual labor, in imitation of the hidden life at Nazareth.
